Internet Dating 101 and How I Met My Wife
A Dad's Point-of-View, by Bruce Sallan Special to Single Dad Life When I got separated and then divorced six years ago, the world of dating had gone through a change. Internet dating was well underway and the quaint idea of friends introducing you to other friends seemed to have gone the way of the horse and buggy. There were still bars and clubs, but those options didn't appeal to me when I was young enough to consider them, and when my hearing was still good enough to survive the over-the-top decibels in such environments. So, it was a brand new world ...
No Excuse Not To Be Involved
SPECIAL TO SINGLE DAD LIFE They say it takes a village to raise a child. That is true, but 50 per cent of any village is made up of men and a good percentage of those guys are daddies. I don't think anyone would disagree with the primal assumption that fathers need to play a part in raising their children. If they all got up and left their children alone in the village, it would create a river of tears. The women would be crying not because they feel sorry for themselves, but because they know their children are in pain. Good mothers ...
The Gift Of Listening
By Richard B. Brooke Ever been chatting with someone and before you can even finish your sentence they interrupt to share their own thought or finish yours for you? Or perhaps you are in the middle of making an important point and their attention is pulled away as they check their ringing cell phone, send an email or reply to a text message. Summer and Single Parent Hedonism
BY PETER EHRLICH SPECIAL TO SINGLE DAD LIFE For single parents, summer presents the only opportunity in the year to be a tad hedonistic. Of course, being hedonistic is relative. If you're young, single and childless, indulging in drugs and sex and rock 'n' roll is not only natural, it's expected. When I heard John Tory joined the Conservative Party at age 15, I was not only unimpressed, but something inside of me wanted to visit him, put my arm around him and ask if he wanted me to take him out and show him the real world. And if you're a parent with a ...
Air Travel with Kids
by: Jennifer Doncsecz, President Air travel is challenging under the best of circumstances, but when you add children and/or pets, things can get downright hairy. Not to mention smelly, messy, and noisy! While I do not make a habit of traveling with my dog or cat, I have, but I have a lot of experience with my kids-who can be equally as smelly, messy and noisy. So how do I do it? Actually it is pretty simple Related posts:Why Single Parents Pay More to TravelKids deserve straight teeth and success at school
What is a “Real” Man?
By Rick Johnson Have you ever noticed that sometimes you are just naturally drawn to a certain man? People like being around him. You can't quite put your finger on what it is, but you know you like it. When he comes into a room or walks down the street people automatically notice him-they see something different about him. There's something invigorating and compelling about him. It's exciting and even a little dangerous to be around him. He's calm but confident, relaxed but prepared, kind but authentic, and bold but compassionate. You feel safe and better about yourself in his presence. You've ...
Rights as a father with joint custody…
Question: I am writing to inquire about my rights as a Father with joint custody of my 8 yr old son. My divorce was finalized in 2003 and since then my ex-wife has given up large portions of her custody with our son. I have gone from having only 2nd and 4th weekends and Thursdays, to now having him wed night, all Thursday, and Friday mornings + 1st, 3rd, and 5th weekends. As you can see has my son with me the majority of the time. Related posts:Soon to be ex-wife is not a US citizenInvestments, Income Information , Custody SupportMy ...
